Pull the switch.  
The LED on the switch and the indicator  
light in the instrument cluster are illuminated.  
Ignition on/off  
On: press the Start/Stop but‐  
ton.

Most of the indicator/warning  
lights light up for a varied  
length of time.  
With the ignition switched on:  
Steptronic transmission: press the switch  
while the brake is pressed or selector lever posi‐  
tion P is set.  
Off: press the Start/Stop button again.  
All indicator lights go out.  
The LED and indicator light go out.  
The parking brake is released.  
Radio-ready state: when the ignition is  
switched off, press the ON/OFF button on  
the radio or when the engine is running, press  
the Start/Stop button.  
Steptronic transmission  
Some electronic systems/power consumers  
remain ready for operation.  
Selector lever positions  
Parking position P.  
R is reverse.  
Start/stop engine  
Neutral N.  
Steptronic transmission: starting  
1. Depress the brake pedal.  
Drive mode D.  
Engage selector lever position P or R only when  
the vehicle is stationary.  
2. Press the Start/Stop button.  
To prevent the vehicle from creeping after you  
select a drive mode or reverse, maintain pressure  
on the brake pedal until you are ready to start.  
Steptronic transmission: switching off  
1. When the vehicle is stationary, apply the  
parking brake.  
Selector lever lock  
2. Engage selector lever position P.  
3. Press the Start/Stop button.  
A lock prevents an inadvertent change from se‐  
lector lever position P to another selector lever  
position and, depending on the transmission ver‐  
sion, inadvertent switching to selector lever posi‐  
tion P or R.  
Auto Start/Stop function  
Steptronic transmission: switches the engine off  
automatically while stationary to save fuel. The  
engine starts automatically when the brake pedal  
is released.  
To release the lock: with the brake pedal de‐  
pressed, press the button on the front or side of  
the selector lever.

and manual mode  
On: press the lever past the resistance point.  
Sport program:  
Off: press the lever past the resistance point  
in the opposite direction.  
Press the selector lever to the left from selector  
lever position D.  
Off: lightly tap the lever to the resistance  
point.  
Manual mode:  
Triple turn signal activation: lightly tap the  
lever up or down.  
To shift down: press the selector lever for‐  
ward.  
Brief signaling: press the lever to the resist‐  
ance point and hold it there for as long as you  
want the turn signal to flash.  
To shift up: pull the selector lever rearwards.  
High beams, headlight flasher,  
turn signal, roadside parking  
light  
Canada: roadside parking light  
High beams, headlight flasher  
To illuminate the vehicle on one side.  
On: with the ignition switched off, press the  
lever either up or down past the resistance  
point for approx. 2 seconds.  
Push the lever forward or pull it backward.  
High beams on, arrow 1.  
Off: briefly press the lever to the resistance  
point in the opposite direction.  
The high beams light up when the low beams  
are switched on.

Switch off the ignition and safely park the vehicle  
before engine oil is added.

The tire inflation pressure values can be found  
on the sign on the door pillar.  
After correcting the tire inflation

For run-flat tires: reinitialize run-flat tires.  
Only add engine oil when the message is dis‐  
played in the instrument cluster.  
Observe the quantity to be added in the mes‐  
sage.  
For the Tire Pressure Monitor TPM: reset the  
Tire Pressure Monitor TPM.  
Take care not to add too much engine oil.  
Observe recommended engine oil types.  
Checking the tire inflation pressure  
Regularly check the tire inflation pressure and  
correct it as needed:

Requirements  
A current measured value is available after ap‐
