Tow Bar Carriers
When using a tow bar attached carrier,
consider the following:

Do not exceed the maximum vertical
load on the tow ball. This is the weight
of the carrier plus the weight of the
load. See Towbar Dimensions (page
474).

Fix the cross bars on the rail markings.
If you are using a bike carrier, the
maximum number of allowed bikes is
three, with a maximum allowed weight
of 130 lb (60 kg).

before driving and at each fuel stop.

racks, we recommend you evenly
distribute the load, as well as maintain
a low center of gravity. Loaded vehicles,
with higher centers of gravity, may
handle differently than unloaded
vehicles. Take extra precautions, such
as slower speeds and increased stopping
distance, when driving a heavily loaded
vehicle.

Load the heaviest item closest to your
vehicle.
The maximum recommended load, evenly
distributed on the roof rack is 75 kg
(165 lb).
