Changing the Unlocking Settings for the Digital

Vehicle Key

Check the charge level of the Digital Vehicle

Key battery.

If necessary, charge the battery of the Digital

Vehicle Key.

Use the NFC function of the digital vehicle key

to lock or unlock the vehicle. (/ page 150).

Ensure suﬃcient distance between the Digital

Vehicle Key and a potential source of interfer-

ence.

Multimedia system:

You have lost a Digital Vehicle Key.

Notes on the additional door lock

Have the vehicle and the Digital Vehicle Key

checked at a qualiﬁed specialist workshop.

The additional door lock is only available for vehi-

cles for the United Kingdom.

There is interference from a powerful radio signal

source

activate the additional door lock.

The battery of the Digital Vehicle Key is low or

empty.

Switch on Bluetooth^®on the digital vehicle key

or on the vehicle.

The additional door lock is automatically activated

in the following situations:

Centrally locking and unlocking the vehicle from

the inside

The vehicle is locked using the key.

The vehicle is locked using KEYLESS-GO.

If the vehicle has been locked via Mercedes me

connect, the additional door lock is not activated

(/ page 572).

If the additional door lock is activated, the doors

cannot be opened from the inside.

Pull the door 1 handle.

Aꢀer locking you can issue a signal with the

horn.

You can prevent the additional door lock from

being activated by deactivating interior protection

before locking the vehicle (/ page 173).

Unlocking/opening the doors from the inside

To unlock: press 1 button.

To lock: press button 2.

The red indicator lamp on button 2 lights up

once the vehicle is locked.

United Kingdom only: observe the notes on

the additional door lock (/ page 151).

This does not lock or unlock the fuel ﬁller ﬂap.

Plug-in hybrid: the socket ﬂap is also locked and

unlocked. The socket ﬂap can be opened even if a

key is detected in the car.

Make sure the key is at least 3 m (pres-

sure washer) or 6 m (car wash) away

from the vehicle.

unintentionally opening the boot lid

when using an automatic car wash

Requirements

Make sure that the key is at a minimum

distance of 3 m away from the vehicle.

The key is outside the vehicle.

Vehicles with digital vehicle key:

The distance between the key and the vehicle

does not exceed 1 m.

NOTE Vehicle damage due to uninten-

The driver's door and the door on which the

Vehicles with Digital Vehicle Key: You can use

the Digital Vehicle Key like the conventional

vehicle key.

To unlock the vehicle: touch the inner surface

of the door handle.

To lock the vehicle: touch the sensor surface

1 or 2.

Convenience closing: touch the recessed sen-

sor surface 2 for an extended period.

The function of the key has been deactivated.

Make sure that there is suﬃcient distance

between the key and the potential source of

The key battery is weak or discharged.

Unlocking a leꢀ-hand vehicle door with the emer-

gency key element

Replace the key battery, if necessary

If you unlock the driver's door with the emer-

gency key, the boot lid will not be unlocked.

Locking the doors

Remove the emergency key (/ page 144).

Insert the emergency key 2 into the lock cyl-

inder as shown.

Insert a suitable object, e.g. the emergency

Vehicles with boot lid convenience closing

NOTE Damage to the boot lid by obstacles

above the vehicle

The boot lid swings upwards when it is

opened.

If the locked door is closed, it can no longer be

opened from the outside.

Therefore, make sure that there is suﬃ-

cient clearance above the boot lid.

Vehicles with HANDS-FREE ACCESS: make a

kicking movement with your foot below the

Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust

gases such as carbon monoxide. Exhaust

gases can enter the vehicle interior if the boot

lid is open when the engine is running, espe-

cially if the vehicle is in motion.
