Exceeding the load-bearing capacity of the

tyres can lead to tyre damage and could cause

the tyres to explode.

Otherwise, certain properties, such as han-

dling characteristics, vehicle noise emissions,

consumption, etc. could be adversely aﬀec-

ted. Furthermore, other tyre sizes could result

in the tyres rubbing against the body and axle

components when loaded. This could result in

damage to the tyre or the vehicle.

Large wheels have a smaller section width. As

the section width decreases, the risk of

wheels and tyres being damaged when driving

over obstacles increases.

Therefore, only use tyre types and sizes

approved for your vehicle model.

Observe the tyre load-bearing capacity

rating and speed rating required for your

vehicle.

Avoid obstacles or drive especially care-

fully.

Only use tyres, wheels and accessories that

have been checked and recommended by

Mercedes-Benz.

Reduce your speed when driving over

kerbs, speed bumps, manhole covers

safety systems, such as ABS, ESP^®and

4MATIC, and marked as follows:

Parking on kerbs or in potholes can damage

The use of shims or brake dust shields is not

permitted and may invalidate the vehicle's

general operating permit.

Vehicles with a tyre pressure monitoring sys-

tem: all ﬁtted wheels must be equipped with

functioning sensors for the tyre pressure mon-

itoring system.

At temperatures below 7°C use winter tyres or

all-season tyres marked i M+S for all

wheels.

When replacing with tyres that do not feature

run-ﬂat characteristics: vehicles with

MOExtended tyres are not equipped with a

TIREFIT kit at the factory. Equip the vehicle

with a TIREFIT kit aꢀer replacing with tyres

that do not feature run-ﬂat characteristics,

e.g. winter tyres.

The tyres wear unevenly and aﬀect the

roadworthiness of the vehicle.

ABS, ESP^®and cruise control operation

are restricted.

Notes on interchanging wheels

For M+S tyres, only use tyres with the same

tread.

Observe the maximum permissible speed for

the M+S tyres ﬁtted.

If the tyre's maximum speed is below that of

the vehicle, this must be indicated by an

appropriate label in the driver's ﬁeld of vision.

Run in new tyres at moderate speeds for the

ﬁrst 100 km.

Interchanging the front and rear wheels can

severely impair the driving characteristics.

The disk brakes or wheel suspension compo-

nents may also be damaged.

If you use tyre types that have not been adap-

Notes on storing wheels

The maximum load capacity of the jack can

be found on the sticker aﬃxed to the jack.

The jack is maintenance-free. If there is a

malfunction, please contact a qualiﬁed spe-

cialist workshop.

When storing wheels, observe the following notes:

Aꢀer removing wheels, store them in a cool,

dry and preferably dark place.

Protect the tyres from contact with oil, grease

or fuel.

The tyre-change tool kit is located in tool bag 1

in the boot.

The wear patterns on the front and rear wheels

Overview of the tyre-change tool kit

Apart from some country-speciﬁc variants, vehi-

cles are not equipped with a tyre-change tool kit.

Consult a qualiﬁed specialist workshop to ﬁnd out

which wheel change tool is necessary and

approved for a wheel change on your vehicle.

You require the following tools, forexample, to

change a wheel:

Do not drive with tyres that have too little tread

depth. This signiﬁcantly reduces traction on wet

roads (aquaplaning).

On vehicles with the same front and rear wheel

size, you can interchange the wheels every

5,000 to 10,000 km, depending on the wear.

Ensure the direction of rotation is maintained for

discs: during removal and repositioning of the
