CRUISE CONTROL OPERATIONS
(manual transmission vehicles)
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode is de-
signed to maintain a selected distance and reduce
the speed to match the slower vehicle ahead; the
system will decelerate the vehicle as necessary.
However, the ICC system can only apply up to ap-
proximately 40% of the vehicle's total braking
power. This system should only be used when traf-
fic conditions allow vehicle speeds to remain fairly
constant or when vehicle speeds change gradually.
If a vehicle moves into the travelling lane ahead or if
a vehicle travelling ahead rapidly decelerates, the
distance between vehicles may become closer be-
cause the ICC system cannot decelerate the vehicle
quickly enough. If this occurs, the ICC system will
sound a warning chime and blink the system dis-
play to notify the driver to take necessary action.

The following items are controlled in the vehicle-to-
vehicle distance control mode:
The ICC system does not control vehicle speed or
warn you when you approach stationary and slow
moving vehicles. You must pay attention to vehicle
operation to maintain proper distance from vehicles
ahead when approaching toll gates or traffic con-

Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode
switches:
The system is operated by a Drive Assist switch and
four control switches, all mounted on the steering
wheel.
The vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode
maintains the speed set by the driver. The set
speed range is between approximately 30 and
160 km/h (20 and 100 MPH).
The vehicle may not maintain the set speed on
winding or hilly roads. If this occurs, you will have to
manually control the vehicle speed and change
gear as required.
When there is a vehicle travelling ahead, the ve-
hicle-to-vehicle distance control mode adjusts
the speed to maintain the distance, selected by
driver, from the vehicle ahead. The adjusting
speed range is between approximately 30 km/h
(20 MPH) and up to the set speed

vehicle ahead. Depress the accelerator to properly
accelerate your vehicle when acceleration is
required for a lane change. Depress the brake pedal
when deceleration is required to maintain a safe
distance to the vehicle ahead due to its sudden
braking or if a vehicle cuts in. Always stay alert when

When ESP (including the traction control system)
operates
Interference by other radar sources
When distance measurement becomes im-
paired due to adhesion of dirt or obstruction to

In some road or traffic conditions, a vehicle or
object can unexpectedly come into the sensor
detection zone and cause automatic braking.
You may need to control the distance from
other vehicles using the accelerator pedal. Al-
ways stay alert and avoid using the ICC sys-
tem when it is not recommended in this sec-
tion.
Always pay attention to the operation of the
vehicle and be ready to manually control the
proper following distance. The vehicle-to-ve-
hicle distance control mode of the ICC system
may not be able to maintain the selected dis-
tance between vehicles (following distance) or
selected vehicle speed under some circum-
stances.

limitations:
Do not use the ICC system if you are towing a
trailer or another vehicle.
The system may not detect the vehicle in front
of you in certain road or weather conditions.
To avoid accidents, never use the ICC system
under the following conditions:
WARNING
The radar sensor will not detect the following ob-
jects:
Listed below are the system limitations for the
ICC system. Failure to operate the vehicle in ac-
cordance with these system limitations could re-
sult in serious injury or death.
Stationary and slow moving vehicles
On roads where the traffic is heavy or there
are sharp curves
Pedestrians or objects in the roadway
The system is primarily intended for use on
Oncoming vehicles in the same lane
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It is
not advisable to use the system in city traffic
or congested areas.
On slippery road surfaces such as on ice or
snow, etc.
Motorcycles and other vehicles travelling offset
in the travel lane
During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.)
The sensor generally detects the signals returned
from the vehicle ahead. Therefore, if the sensor can-
not detect the reflection from the vehicle ahead, the
ICC system may not maintain the selected distance.
This system will not adapt automatically to
road conditions. This system should be used
When rain, snow or dirt adhere to the sys-
tem sensor
Starting and driving 247
The following are some conditions in which the sen-
sor cannot detect the signals:
When snow or road spray from travelling ve-
hicles reduces the sensor's visibility
When excessively heavy baggage is loaded in the
rear seat or the luggage compartment of your
vehicle
When your vehicle is towing a trailer, etc.
The ICC system is designed to automatically check
the sensor's operation within the limitation of the
system. When the sensor is covered with dirt or is
obstructed, the system will automatically be can-
celled. If the sensor is covered with ice, a transpar-
ent or translucent vinyl bag, etc., the ICC system may
not detect them. In these instances, the vehicle-to-
vehicle distance control mode may not cancel and
may not be able to maintain the selected following
distance from the vehicle ahead. Be sure to check
and clean the sensor regularly.
NSD775
The detection zone of the radar sensor is limited. A
vehicle ahead must be in the detection zone for the
vehicle-to-vehicle distance detection mode to
maintain the selected distance from the vehicle
ahead.
A vehicle ahead may move outside of the detection
zone due to its position within the same lane of
travel. Motorcycles may not be detected in the same
lane ahead if they are travelling offset from the
centre line of the lane. A vehicle that is entering the
lane ahead may not be detected until the vehicle
has completely moved into the lane. If this occurs,
the ICC system may warn you by blinking the sys-
tem indicator and sounding the chime. The driver
may have to manually control the proper distance
away from vehicle travelling ahead.
248 Starting and driving
Condition B:
The chime will sound and the [Not available Front
Radar Blocked] warning message will appear in the
vehicle information display.
When the radar sensor area is covered with dirt
or is obstructed, making it impossible to detect
a vehicle ahead, the ICC system is automatically
cancelled.
Action to take:
If the warning message appears, park the vehicle in
a safe place and turn the engine off. When the radar
signal is temporarily interrupted, clean the sensor
area and restart the engine. The system will need
some time to detect that the sensor area is now
clean. If the warning message continues to be dis-
played, have the ICC system checked by a NISSAN
dealer or qualified workshop.
NSD679
When driving on some roads, such as winding, hilly,
curved, narrow roads, or roads which are under
construction, the radar sensor may detect vehicles
in a different lane, or may temporarily not detect a
vehicle travelling ahead. This may cause the ICC sys-
tem to decelerate or accelerate the vehicle.
Condition A:
Under the following conditions, the ICC system is
automatically cancelled. A chime will sound and the
system will not be able to be set:
When the ESP is turned off
When driving on roads with limited road struc-
When the ESP (including the traction control sys-
The detection of vehicles may also be affected by
vehicle operation (steering manoeuvre or travelling
position in the lane, etc.) or vehicle condition. If this
occurs, the ICC system may warn you by blinking
the system indicator and sounding the chime un-
expectedly. You will have to manually control the
proper distance away from the vehicle travelling
ahead.

When the vehicle speed falls below approxi-
mately 30 km/h (20 MPH)
When the parking brake is applied
When a tyre slips
Action to take:
When the radar signal is temporarily interrupted
When the conditions listed above are no longer
present, turn the ICC system back on to use the sys-
tem.
When the clutch pedal is depressed for approxi-
System temporarily unavailable:
mately 8 seconds
The following are conditions in which the ICC sys-
tem may be temporarily unavailable. In these in-
stances, the ICC system may cancel and may not be
able to maintain the selected following distance
from the vehicle ahead.
Action to take:
Condition C:
When the ICC system is not operating properly, the
chime sounds and the ICC system ON indicator (yel-
low) will appear.
When the conditions listed above are no longer
present, press the <RES/+> switch to resume using
the ICC system.
Starting and driving 249
Action to take:
If the warning appears, park the vehicle in a safe
place. Turn the ignition off, restart the engine, re-
sume driving and set the ICC system again.
If it is not possible to set the system or the warn-
ing stays on, it may indicate that the ICC system is
malfunctioning. Although the vehicle is still drive-
able under normal conditions, have the vehicle
checked by a NISSAN dealer or qualified work-
shop.

The Steering Assist system uses a multi-sensing
front camera installed behind the windscreen to
monitor the lane markers of your travelling lane.
STEERING ASSIST (where fitted)
(manual transmission vehicles)
The Steering Assist function controls the steering
system to help keep your vehicle within the travel-
ling lane.
Always observe the posted speed limits and
do not set the speed over them.
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions for
proper use of the Steering Assist system could
result in serious injury or death.
Never take your hands off the steering wheel
when driving. Always keep your hands on the
steering wheel and drive your vehicle safely.
Steering Assist is not a self-driving system.
Always drive carefully and attentively when
using the Steering Assist system. Read and
understand the Owner’s Manual thoroughly
before using the Steering Assist system. To
avoid serious injury or death, do not rely on
the system to prevent accidents or to control
the vehicle’s speed in emergency situations.
Do not use the Steering Assist system except
in appropriate road and traffic conditions.
Within the limits of its capabilities, as
described in this manual, it helps the driver
with certain driving activities.
The Steering Assist system is not a replace-
ment for proper driving procedure and is not
designed to correct careless, inattentive or ab-
sent-minded driving. Steering Assist will not
always steer the vehicle to keep it in the lane.
The Steering Assist system is not designed to

following three methods:
Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the vehicle at-
tains the desired speed, push the <SET/-> switch
and release it.
If it is not possible to set or the indicator stays on,
it may indicate that the system is malfunction-
ing. Although the vehicle is still driveable under
normal conditions, have the vehicle checked by a
NISSAN dealer or qualified workshop.
To set cruising speed, accelerate your vehicle to
the desired speed, push the <SET/-> switch and re-
lease it. (The colour of the cruise indicator changes
to green and the set vehicle speed indicator comes
on.) Take your foot off the accelerator pedal. Your
vehicle will maintain the set speed.
Push and hold the <SET/-> switch. Release the
switch when the vehicle slows down to the de-
sired speed.
SPEED LIMITER (where fitted)
Push, then quickly release the <SET/-> switch.
Each time you do this, the set speed will decrease
by about 1 km/h (1 MPH).
The speed limiter allows you to set the desired ve-
hicle speed limit. While the speed limiter is activated,
you can perform normal braking and acceleration,
but the vehicle will not exceed the set speed.
To pass another vehicle, depress the accelera-
tor pedal. When you release the pedal, the ve-
hicle will return to the previously set speed.
To resume the preset speed, push and release the

WARNING
The LDW system provides a lane departure warning
function when the vehicle is driven at speeds of ap-
proximately 60 km/h (37 MPH) (for Europe) or ap-
proximately 70 km/h (45 MPH) (except for Europe)
and above, and the lane markings are clear.
NIC3802
Listed below are the system limitations for the
Lane Departure Warning system. Failure to oper-
ate the vehicle in accordance with these system
limitations could result in serious injury or death.
The LDW system will operate when the vehicle is
driven at the following speeds and above, and only
when the lane markings are clearly visible on the
road:
When the vehicle approaches either the left or the
right side of the travelling lane, the steering wheel
will vibrate, a warning chime will sound (only when
Steering Assist is active) and the LDW indicator on
the vehicle information display will blink to alert the
driver.
The LDW system is only a warning device to
help inform the driver of
unintended lane departure. It will not steer the
vehicle or prevent loss of control. It is the driv-
er’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely,
keep the vehicle in the travelling lane, and be
in control of the vehicle at all times.

On roads where discontinued lane mark-
ers are still detectable.
Excessive noise will interfere with the warning
chime sound, and the chime may not be heard.
On roads where there are sharp curves.
Do not use the LDW system under the follow-
ing conditions as it may not function properly:
On roads where there are sharply contrast-
ing objects, such as shadows, snow, water,
wheel ruts, seams or lines remaining after
road repairs. (The LDW system could detect
these items as lane markers.)
During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, etc.).
When the interior temperature is reduced, the LDW
system will resume operating automatically and the
LDW indicator will stop flashing.
When driving on slippery roads, such as on
ice or snow.
The LDW system is not designed to warn under the
following conditions:
When driving on winding or uneven roads.
On roads where the travelling lane merges
or separates.
When there is a lane closure due to road
repairs.
