Starting and driving -> Intelligent Driver Alertness for Your Nissan Juke SUV 2020

INTELLIGENT DRIVER  
ALERTNESS (where fitted)  
System Activation/Deactivation  
Perform the following steps to enable or disable the  
Intelligent Driver Alertness system.  
SYSTEM OPERATION  
WARNING  
Failure to follow the warnings and instructions for  
proper use of the Intelligent Driver Alertness sys-  
tem could result in serious injury or death.  
1. Use the  
or  
button on the steering  
wheel until [Settings] is shown on the Vehicle In-  
formation Display.  
The Intelligent Driver Alertness system is only  
a warning to inform the driver of a potential  
lack of driver attention or drowsiness. It will  
not steer the vehicle or prevent loss of control.  
2. Use the  
or  
button to select [Driver As-  
sistance]. Then push <OK>.  
The Intelligent Driver Alertness system does  
not detect and provide an alert of the driver's  
lack of attention or fatigue in every situation.  
3. Select [Driver Attention Alert] and push <OK>.

The system continuously monitors driver attention  
and can provide multiple warnings per trip.  
Intelligent Driver Alertness Limitations  
The system resets and starts reassessing driving  
style and steering behaviour when the ignition  
switch is cycled from the ON to the OFF position  
and back to the ON position.  
The Intelligent Driver Alertness system helps alert  
the driver if the system detects a lack of attention  
or driving fatigue.  
WARNING  
Listed below are the system limitations for the  
Intelligent Driver Alertness system. Failure to op-  
erate the vehicle in accordance with these sys-  
tem limitations could result in serious injury or  
death.  
The system will not operate when the ProPILOT sys-  
tem is switched on.  
The system monitors driving style and steering be-  
haviour over a period of time,and it detects changes  
from the normal pattern. If the system detects that  
driver attention is decreasing over a period of time,  
the system uses an audible and visual warning to  
suggest that the driver take a break.  
The system will not operate when the ICC system is  
switched on.  
The Intelligent Driver Alertness system may  
not operate properly and may not provide an  
alert in the following conditions:  
Poor road conditions such as an uneven  
road surface or pot holes.  
Strong side wind.

PARKING  
If you have adopted a sporty driving style  
with higher cornering speeds or higher  
rates of acceleration.  
Manual transmission models:  
WARNING  
Do not park the vehicle over flammable mate-  
rials, such as dry grass, waste paper, or rags.  
They may ignite and cause a fire.  
Depress the clutch pedal and place the shift lever in  
the R (Reverse) position. When parking on an uphill  
gradient, place the shift lever in the 1st (Low gear)  
position.  
Frequent lane changes or changes to ve-  
hicle speed.  
Safe parking procedures require that:  
The Intelligent Driver Alertness system may  
not provide an alert in the following condi-  
tions:  
Automatic (DCT) transmission models:  
The parking brake is applied.  
Fully depress the brake pedal and move the shift  
lever to the P (Park) position.  
The shift lever is placed in an appropriate  
gear for manual transmission models.  
Vehicle speeds lower than 60 km/h  
(37 MPH).  
The shift lever is placed in the P (Park) po-  
sition for Automatic (DCT) transmission  
models.  
WARNING  
Short lapses of attention.  
Make sure that the shift lever has been pushed as  
far forward as it can go and cannot be moved  
without depressing the button on the shift lever  
handle.  
Instantaneous distractions such as drop-  
ping an object.  
Failure to follow the above recommendations  
could cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly  
or roll away and result in an accident.  
System Malfunction  
Never leave the engine running while the ve-  
hicle is unattended.  
If the Intelligent Driver Alertness system malfunc-  
tions, the [Driver Attention Alert System fault] warn-  
ing message will appear in the Vehicle Information  
Display and the function will be stopped automati-  
cally.  
Do not leave children unattended inside the  
vehicle. They could unknowingly activate  
switches or controls, or move the vehicle. Un-  
attended children could become involved in  
serious accidents.  
Action to take:  
Stop the vehicle in a safe location, and then turn off  
and restart the engine. If the warning message con-  
tinues to appear, have the Intelligent Driver Alert-  
ness system checked by a NISSAN dealer or quali-  
fied workshop.  
To help avoid risk of injury or death through  
unintended operation of the vehicle and/or its  
systems, do not leave children, people who re-  
quire the assistance of others or pets unat-  
tended in your vehicle. Additionally, the tem-  
perature inside a closed vehicle on a warm day  
can quickly become high enough to cause a  
significant risk of injury or death to people and  
pets.
