Key overview

The vehicle has one of the following keys.

NOTICE

Press one of the buttons on the key.

Unlock the door within 1 minute with the key via

the locking cylinder » page 27.

Protect the key from moisture and strong vibra-

tions.

Keep the grooves in the key bit clean.

If necessary, the key must be synchronized if one

of the buttons on the key has been repeatedly press-

ed outside of the eﬀective range of the remote con-

trol.

The eﬀective range of the key signal is approxi-

mately 30 m. The eﬀective area can be reduced, e.g.

due to signal interference from other transmitters.

Press any key on the

radio key, and the key

Retrieve saved position

Unlock the vehicle and open the driver's door.

The driver's seat and the exterior mirrors occupy the

position assigned in the memory to the key used to

unlock the vehicle.

Insert the new battery.

Fit the battery cover

and press until it clicks

into place.

Stop position change

Press any button on the seat to be adjusted.

Press the button on the key.

Remove the key bit

and partially insert it

into the opening.

Activate and deactivate the memory function of

the key

The function is activated or deactivated in the fol-

lowing menu in the Infotainment system.

Or:

Storing driver's seat and exterior mirror position

for driving forwards

The data is saved automatically each time the vehicle

is locked.

The seat position can be stored if the angle of in-

clination of the seat back relative to the seat surface

is less than approximately 110° and the seat is not in

any of the end positions.

Unlock the vehicle with the key.

Turn on the ignition.

Activate the folding function of the mirror in the

Memory function of the key

Functionality

The set mirror position is saved.

Applies to vehicles that do not have the personalisa-

tion function.

Each time the vehicle is locked, the position of the

driver's seat and rearview mirror are stored in the

memory of the remote key being used to lock the

vehicle.

Functionality

Lock / unlock with the central locking button

Press the button in the centre console.

Central locking system

The symbol in the button lights up when locking.

The system unlocks and locks all doors, the fuel ﬁller

ﬂap and the luggage compartment ﬂap at the same

time.

The button locks all doors and the boot lid.

Unlocking of the vehicle also takes place when open-

ing a door from the inside or when removing the key

from the ignition.

Unlock indicator: the ﬂashing lights ﬂash twice.

Lock indicator: the ﬂashing lights ﬂash once.

WARNING

The warning light in the driver's door will ﬂash for

about 2 seconds in quick succession after the vehicle

is locked, then it will start ﬂashing regularly at longer

intervals.

A locked vehicle with a central locking button makes

it diﬃcult for responders to enter the vehicle in an

emergency.

If none of the doors or the boot lid is opened

within 45 seconds of unlocking, the vehicle automat-

ically locks again.

Setting the unlocking and locking function

The lock and unlock functions are set in the follow-

ing menu in the Infotainment system.

SAFE-Function

Depending on the equipment, the SAFEFunction can

be incorporated into the central locking system.

Or:

The SAFEFunction prevents the doors from opening

from the inside after locking the vehicle.

The SAFEFunction turns on when the vehicle is

locked from the outside.

All doors

Unlocking all doors, the luggage compartment lid

and the fuel ﬁller ﬂap.

After the ignition is switched oﬀ, a message regard-

ing the SAFEFunction is displayed on the instrument

cluster display.

Single door

The driver's door and the fuel ﬁller ﬂap are un-

locked with the button on the key.

DANGER

Risk of death!

In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system,

the door near to which the key is located and the

fuel ﬁller ﬂap are unlocked by touching the door han-

dle.

When the vehicle is locked and SAFEFunction is

switched on, no people may remain in the vehicle.

The doors on the driver’s side and the fuel ﬁller ﬂap

are unlocked with the button on the key.

The warning light in the driver's door will ﬂash for

is locked, then goes out and starts ﬂashing regularly

In vehicles equipped with a keyless locking system,

the doors on the passenger’s side near to which the

key is located and the fuel ﬁller ﬂap are unlocked by

touching the door handle.

If the SAFEFunction is switched oﬀ, the door can be

opened from the inside by pulling the opening lever

once.

When unlocked again, the other doors and the boot

lid are also unlocked.

The SAFEFunction is switched on again after unlock-

ing and locking the vehicle.

Automatic locking after starting

After starting, all doors and the boot lid are locked

when a speed of 15 km/h is reached.

The vehicle is unlocked when a door is opened from

the inside.

Depending on the equipment:

Open the door.

For vehicles with a panel over the opening, remove

the panel.

Insert the key or a ﬂat-head screwdriver into the

slot.

Turn the key or ﬂat-head screwdriver towards the

outside of the vehicle (spring-loaded position).

Troubleshooting

Central locking fault

The warning light in the driver's door ﬁrst ﬂashes

Then it lights up continuously.

After 30 secs, it ﬂashes slowly.

Unlocking and locking the door with the lock cylin-

der

Usage

The keyless locking system, KESSY, enables unlock-

ing and locking of the vehicle without actively using

the remote control key.

Remove cover

Pull on the door handle

direction of the arrow.

Operation

Keep the key with you when unlocking and locking.

The sensors on the handle are intended to be operat-

ed with bare hands, e.g. wearing gloves may aﬀect

the function of the sensors.

Protection against inadvertently locking the key in

the vehicle

When the key is locked in the vehicle, the vehicle is

automatically unlocked. If no door is opened within

45 seconds, the vehicle automatically locks again.

When the key is locked in the luggage compartment,

the luggage compartment lid is automatically un-

locked.

Open the boot lid.

Opening the door.

Sudden and signiﬁcant voltage drop in the electri-

cal system.

Unhitch the trailer.

Opening the door unlocked via the lock cylinder.

Settings

Deactivate keyless locking

Lock the vehicle with the button on the key.

Within 5 s, touch the sensor on the door handle

with your ﬁnger.

Switch oﬀ the triggered alarm

Unlock the vehicle.

Deactivation is conﬁrmed by a single ﬂash of the

direction indicators.

Or:

To check the deactivation, wait at least 10 seconds

and then pull the door handle.

›

Turn on the ignition.

›

The door must remain locked.

Keyless locking is automatically activated once again

after the vehicle is unlocked.

Functional conditions

All windows must be closed for the alarm system to

function correctly.

Troubleshooting

A trailer is integrated into the alarm system under

the following conditions.

The vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked using

the sensors on the handle

✓ The vehicle is factory-ﬁtted with a towing device.

✓ The trailer is electrically connected to the vehicle

via the trailer socket.

✓ The trailer is not equipped with LED tail lights.

Lock or unlock the vehicle with the button on the

key.

Then try to unlock or lock the vehicle using the

sensors on the handle.

›

If the electrical connection to the trailer is interrup-

ted in a vehicle with an activated alarm system,

warning signals are triggered.

If keyless locking does not work, get the help of a

specialist garage.

If the vehicle is not unlocked for a longer period

of time, the function can be deactivated automati-

cally.

Disable the alarm before connecting or discon-

necting a trailer.

No key was found when the ignition was switched

Alarm trigger

The deactivated functions are reactivated after un-

locking and locking the vehicle.

The activated alarm system triggers an alarm when
